Part 1: Filter. Remove the two plastic covers on top of the engine. (Feel for the grommets - they both just pull straight up out of the grommets.) Using a 32mm socket, unscrew the top cover of the oil filter housing, which is on the front of the engine with the cover pointing straight up. The old oil filter will come out with the cover.

If not, then use an oil with the appropriate approval. 0W gets folks all worked up but a 0 and 5 winter rated oil will be for all intents/purposes, unless it's -40 deg F out, the same for cold starts etc. Either one is fine.

Though I have used M1 0w-40 and GC 0w-30 in my 2.5 Rabbit, both are more than acceptable oils in their own right. I did notice the German Castrol had a smoothing effect on the big 5-cyl.
